ABSTRACT
The improvement of medical procedures in patients with congenital heart disease led to an increase in life expectancy and made psychocardiological aspects more important. Relevant issues are the incidence of comorbid psychological disorders, factors associated with quality of life, the impact of congenital heart disease and its treatments on social relationships and sexuality, lifestyle factors and adherence to treatment. Screening for psychosocial problems is advised by treatment guidelines and recommendations, which underlines the importance of an interdisciplinary management of adults with congenital heart disease.
